Light Rigid (LR) Licence
Any motor vehicle more than 4.5 tonnes GVM but no more than 8 tonnes GVM.
Any mini bus vehicle that can seat more than 12 adults (including the driver) but has no more than 8 tonnes GVM.

Heavy Vehicle Competency Based Assessment (HVCBA) – Light Rigid Course:
The training can take up to 5-8 hours depending on the individual’s level of experience.
HVCBA Course : RMS requires a minimum of 5 hours assessment time, with a min 45min Final Assessment (FCA), which can be completed by our own RMS accredited HVCBA Assessors. The course will focus both on theoretical and practical skills when it comes to driving Light Rigid Vehicles.

Medium Rigid Vehicle (MR) Licence
Class MR licence vehicles include:
Trucks and buses with a GVM more than 4.5 tonnes with two axles upto 16 tonne
This course allows to drive the LR (Light Rigid class) vehicle.
The MR Licence is best for those new to industry truck driving or those who wish to upgrade their current licence so they can upgrade their skills and current licence eg.
Local transit buses.
Fire trucks

Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence
With an HR Licence, you will be allowed to drive the following:
Any Rigid class vehicle with three or more axles
Twin steer vehicles, including bendy buses
MR (Medium Rigid class) vehicles
LR (Light Rigid class) vehicles
A Heavy Rigid vehicle that may be used to tow one trailer (not a semi-trailer) that has a GVM not exceeding 9,000 kg
Class HR License – Heavy Rigid Licence
The Heavy Rigid Course is suited best for NEW to the industry truck drivers who wish to upgrade their skills and current licence.

Automatic / Synchromesh Manual License:

HC Upgrade
Heavy Combination Licence – HC
With a Heavy Combination (HC) Licence, you will be able to drive the following :
A single trailer commonly called a Semi-Trailer, truck and dog, pig trailers,tag trailers, floats, and low loaders.
Who is this licence for?
This licence is best suited for an experienced truck driver who wants to upgrade their licence.
Since this kind of license involves a heavier vehicle, each truck driver must undergo additional training.
This course takes between 6 – 10 hours in an automatic or RoadRanger truck, and we currently have a 99% passing rate for this license.
If you currently hold a HR or MR unrestricted licence this course can be completed in an automatic, and the unrestricted carry's over.

HC Road-Ranger $1500
RMS requires a minimum of 6 hours assessment time.
Both options will have a thorough discussion about theory and one-on-one training for practical application.
It also comes with a final assessment (FCA) that will be conducted by our RMS accredited HVCBA Assessors.

Whats the Difference between an HVCBA FCA course & CT ?
The HVCBA FCA training course has off-road and on-road practical assessments consisting of up to 15 criteria relevant to the type of vehicle class with required minimum training hours
LR - 5hours
MR - 5hours

HC - 6 hours
MC - 8 hours
The FCA is a Final Competency Assessment on the on-road practical assessments learnt during the course on criteria 3 to 10 & 12 for 45min.
The CT is a Competency Test, This has off-road and on-road practical assessments consisting of up to 13 Criteria only available on vehicle classes LR MR or HR.
With NO minimum training hours, this assessment is 90 minutes on 13 criteria in A guide to heavy vehicle competency based assessment.
Overall, the CT is aimed at experienced / confident drivers who have been trained by
• A family member, a friend
• A work colleague, volunteers or those that just wish to it bit by bit
• or simply someone that wishes to learn the truck a few hours each afternoon and not do the day course.
